Agora: The archive – exhibited is centred around the archive of former gallery/foundation/artists’ initiative Agora in Maastricht. Agora was set up in Maastricht in 1972 by artists Theo van der Aa and Ger van Dijck. Apart from the fact that Agora greatly boosted the art climate in the city of Maastricht and the province of Limburg, it also gained a leading position in the area of innovative artists’ initiatives in the Netherlands.

The gallery space will host the exhibition Agora and the Fandangos network, curated by Marc Goethals. On Saturday and Sunday, Marc Goethals will do a guided tour in Dutch; on Monday he will do the tour in English. Tours start at 14.00 hours.
Ron Bernstein presents a studio project with Rod Summers, about Raoul Marroquin’s and Robert Filliou’s actions in Rod Summers’ studio in the Jan van Eyck (now room 112).
In the space near the main entrance, visitors can see First World TV Convention #2: a reconstruction of the World’s First Television Convention by Raul Marroquin, curated by Lene ter Haar.
There will be screenings in the auditorium and a discursive programme in the video studio (in English). On Saturday, Sunday and Monday talks and lectures will be given by Lene ter Haar, Nathaniel Boyd, Jennifer Steetskamp, Mariana Castillo Deball, Martha Hellion, Guido Goossens, Rod Summers, Caroline Dumalin and Dirk Pültau.

The Jan van Eyck Academie is also organising a book sale. During all three days of the KunstTour, the academy is offering its own publications as well as more than 4000 library doubles for sale in the basement.

THE LEGEND OF UIRAPURU:
Uirapuru is an extraordinary Amazonian bird, which sings only once a year, while building its nest, in order to attract a mate. Even then, only from five to ten minutes early in the morning. According to the legend, Uirapuru’s song is so beautiful that all other birds stop singing to listen to it. Both in legend and reality Uirapuru is a symbol of rarefied beauty and loneliness.
Biography: TAO G. VRHOVEC SAMBOLEC (1972) is an artist and musician based in Amsterdam and Ljubljana – Slovenia. His works encompass audiovisual and mixed media installations, interventions in public spaces and composed and improvised electro acoustic music.

Titel: ‘De sterren van de Hemel’ – Judith Boer – schilderijen

De tentoonstelling ‘De sterren van de Hemel’ laat zien wat typisch is voor het werk van Judith Boer en ook hoe (waar) de keuze van de onderwerpen plaats heeft gevonden. Via de Wadden, de Bollen, Geest- en Veengronden, Weidegebieden, Horizonnen naar nu de Sterrenhemel. Sterren staan bijna nooit alleen. Zij vormen groepjes met honderden bij elkaar. En ook die groepjes horen bij elkaar en vormen samen sterrenstelsels. Zo’n stelsel bestaat uit miljarden sterren met daartussen wolken van kosmische stof van waaruit nieuwe sterren kunnen ontstaan. Er zijn stelsels die nog maar weinig nieuwe sterren voortbrengen. Dat zijn oudere stelsels met vastere vormen en nog maar weinig potentieel voor vernieuwing. In de jongere onregelmatiger gevormde sterrenstelsels is genoeg kosmisch materiaal om nog miljarden jaren te exploderen en nieuwe sterren voort te brengen. Deze meer ongeregelde stelsels, rijk aan jonge sterren en potentie zien er blauw uit.

Kunstenaars als Peter Bertus zijn in deze tijd moeilijk te vinden. Het is een uitstervend ras. Zij weten eeuwenoude ambacht nog te combineren met hun unieke gave als kunstenaars. Het grafische oeuvre van Peter Bertus straalt deze uniciteit uit.

Titel: Freigeist Festival: de underground warm-up voor de KunstTour 2010

Freigeist Festival is een viering van kunst, muziek en optredens van regionale en internationale artiesten. Het festival wordt afgesloten met een feest in de oude fabriekshal met DJ duo Robosonic (Berlin Kreuzberg Institut).

Titel: Expositie, Best of shaken.

Shaken not Stirred ontwikkelt een ‘Best of shaken’ expositie met performances, video kunst, poëzie, animatie en beeldende kunst. ‘Shaken’ is het ultieme interdisciplinaire project dat vier keer per jaar wordt georganiseerd in de Belgische Ardennen. 30 professionele creatievellingen uit de meest uiteenlopende disciplines werken samen naar aanleiding van een thema.
