The ArtTour is for the audience and the participants an accessible and broad podium of presentation for visual arts and design. Without the ArtTour many artists from Maastricht and surroundings would not have a possibility to show and sell their work in their own region. The ArtTour stimulates the climate of production and the cultural entrepreneurship.
Alongside this the ArtTour plays also an important economical role for the city of Maastricht, like cultural tourism and the promotion of Maastricht as a lively art and cultural city. In this way Maastricht is more attractive as a city for businesses to settle (according to an TNO-rapport).
The ArtTour as a concept is a success and there are possibilities to keep on growing. After nine years still a growing number of people visit the ArtTour. The ArtTour hopes to be a steady part of the regional range of cultural institutes and to receive also in the future a structural subsidy.
